What Is a Free Agent?

A free agent is a player who registers individually rather than with an existing team.

How Does It Work?

With over 100 active teams across men’s, women’s, and coed divisions at various skill levels, we make every effort to place free agents onto teams. Assignment to a team cannot be guaranteed, however, as placements are based on requests by team captains. Team captains often request players based on specific needs - such as a goalkeeper, defender, or midfielder. Be sure to indicate your preferred positions when completing your registration profile. In some cases, if enough free agents register, we may create an entirely new team composed of free agents, providing even more players with the opportunity to participate.  If you’re interested in captaining a free agent team, please get in touch! Please note we have a No Refund Policy if you decide to withdraw from a free agent team after you have been assigned.

Timeline

Free agent placements typically happen just before a league starts and through the second week of games. 

Once registered, your player profile including your name, contact info, preferred positions, and number of years playing soccer will be shared with captains. If selected, a captain will reach out to you directly or email you an “invite” from the LeagueApps platform.

To confirm your spot on the team, accept the invite and complete your player profile and waiver.  Log in to your Dashboard to view team details, roster, and game schedule.  You may also view your registration confirmation email for links to the season webpage.

If you are not placed on a team after the first few weeks of a league, you may email info@baasl.org to request a status update, refund, or transfer of your registration to another league. Please note that if you register after week 2 of a league, placement to a team is less likely.

Payment

All free agents are required to submit a player fee upon being placed on a team. Payment should be made directly to the captain who sets the fee amount per player.  Be sure to request a receipt of your payment or retain a screenshot of your payment if made electronically.

If you're placed on a free agent team created by BAASL, your name, email, phone number, position preferences, and number of years playing soccer will be shared with the full team roster to assist in organizing the team.

Agreement & Privacy

By registering as a free agent, you agree to abide by all BAASL rules and terms of participation and certify that the information you provide is accurate.  Your personal information is used for internal league purposes and will not be sold to third parties.
